Girly Bits Shift Happens

Good Morning Girls,

I feel like the last couple of weeks I’ve been posting a lot of indie brand nail polish swatches. I noticed I’m not getting extremely excited anymore about any of the accessible and generally available collections. It seems to me that the color and the creativity have been a struggle for the mass brands lately. I hope Fall/Winter will be more interesting, I can’t wait to see OPI’s Germany collection.

I’ve heard Shift Happens is very close to Clarins 230. I can’t say for sure, because I’m still refusing to spend $60 or more to buy the latter. From the comparisons I have seen they are close but not identical.

Shift Happens is a multi-chrome top coat by Girly Bits. It shifts color between pinkish red, copper and green. The application is smooth and flawless. I like it more with the darker nail polishes.

Nerd Lacquer Cold & Calculating

Cold and Calculating is a deep purple shimmer with silver and pink different sized glitter. Pretty simple for Nerd Lacquer, right? Trust me, it’s not simple at all!

Cold and Calculating is such a vibrant shade bordering vampy and trendy. I saw some swatches on the web and It seems like my polish is a little bit different than the one in the square bottles - it doesn’t have blue small glitter and the base is not jelly. This adds more color overall.

Dollish Polish Zombie Flesh

Hey Ladies!

Today I’m showing you my first Dollish Polish nail polish - Zombie Flesh. It’s a greish khaki base with lime, gold and black glitter.I used 2 coats. If you are a fan of Walking Dead , definitely get this polish - the shade is extremely close to zombie skin color:) Besides, black glitter really stands out.

I bought Zombie Flesh on Etsy here. Per Dollish Polish update, she is planning to move her store from Etsy, so stay tuned...

Nerd Lacquer Event Horizon

I’m generally very excited about each and every one of the Nerd Lacquer creations. But Event Horizon is really something special and absolutely stunning!

Usually Nerd Lacquer formula is on the thinner side, but Even Horizon has a deep blue jelly base that makes it a little thicker. The application is still flawless. It’s a truly milti-dimensional polish;it has a holographic component (small holo particles of different colors) and glitter component (silver, gold, green and blue glitter of various sizes).

Tony Moly GS10 Pinky Star

Pinky Star is a part of the Tony Moly “dupe the best” collection. I already showed you the Shooting Star swatches of the dupe for Deborah Lippmann’s Candy Shop (here).

Pinky Star is actually the only unique shade in this Tony Moly collection. It is a light peach jelly base with gold, red and pink glitter.

The formula is average. I wouldn’t say that it’s the best formula I’ve dealed with, but the application is streak-less and dry time is fast. The only problem is a brush - it is very puffy and makes it hard to apply nail polish accurately.

A-England St.George

Today I have one of my recent favorites to share with you. St. George is a part of The Legends Collection by

A-England. It is a deep teal holographic nail polish, but the holo effect is a little muted by the richness of the color in comparison with the other polishes from this collection. Additionally, St.George has a silver shimmer that is showing up in photos with flash.

The formula is in line with the rest of the A-England polishes. For me personally, it is one of the best I’ve tried, not only for the holographic polishes, but also for other types. The application is flawless.

China Glaze You Move Me

You Move Me is a bronze shimmer polish from Magnetix collection. It reminds me of tiger eye stone. I used black base to make waves more obvious, because this polish is also on the lighter side.

Alessandro 513 Street Wear - International Nail Polish

I’m a huge fan of Alessandro hand care – hand creams, serums and 2-phase peeling are beyond amazing! However, I this was the first time I tried Alessandro nail polish.

Street Wear is a violet gold shimmer with pink undertones. It’s very classy and absolutely stunning. I was impressed with the formula: the application was smooth and dry time is less than a minute.

Alessandro is a German brand. Unfortunately it is not available in US (cries...), but is widely accessible in Europe and Asia. It can also be found in one Quebec. I rarely recommend nail and hand care products, because the preferences are different. But, seriously, if you come across this brand anywhere, try their Hands Up! Line. It is amazing.

OPI Not Like the Movies

OPI Not Like the Movies is a part of Katy Perry Collection. It is a green-purple duochrome with some tiny silver glitter particles. It is pretty close to Wet ‘n Wild Grey’s Anatomy and Deborah Lippmann Wicked Game, but the last 2 have more purple than green. I don’t have DL, but I will make compare Gray’s Anatomy with Not like the Movies later this week.

Usually, OPI polishes have the perfect formula for me, but this one was a nightmare to apply. It was too runny and streaky. I used 3 coats and although on the pictures it looks pretty, the application was quite messy.

Tony Moly GS09 Shooting Star ( Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop Dupe)

Yesterday I posted a short story about why I got Galaxy collection. So, today I’m showing you the reason.

Tony Moly GS09 Shooting Star is a close dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Candy Shop. The only difference is that the base color is a little paler. You can compensate it by applying a brighter pink base coat and ..Voila!...exact dupe.

I don’t know what collection is it, but there 3 polishes: Milky Way (GS08), Shooting Star (GS09) and Pinky Star (GS10). Milky Way is also a very close dupe to DL Glitter in the Aitr and Whimsical. Pinky Star, however, is quite unique.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I got these from Gmarket, for around $6-7 apiece. Unfortunately, these were unavailable on eBay at that time.

Lovely blogger Lacey from Lace & Lacquers was able to persuade one eBay seller to get and list this collection. So now, you can order it without the hassle here.

Tony Moly GT03 Mars

Good Morning lovely Ladies!

Today I’m showing you Tony Moly GT03 Mars from Galaxy collection. I have seen Tony Moly reviews here and there, but I never was tempted enough to buy it. After I saw review of the new Tony Moly Glitters on The Polish Well blog, I immediately knew I should get them. So I additionally bought the whole Galaxy Collection..lol.

I purchase my beauties on Korean website Gmarket. To tell you the truth, I don’t understand almost 90% of what’s written there, but somehow I was able to order everything I needed and it was delivered in an excellent condition. The prices there are extremely low - around 3$ for the bottle of nail polish, but the shipping is expensive that raises the price almost twice.
You can also find Tony Moly Galaxy collection on eBay. The price is $8-9 dollars depending on the seller.

Tony Moly Mars is a mix of dark brown and sparkly copper glitter. The polish is very pretty and definitely stands out. Mars was the least favorite of mine and quickly turned into one of the best polishes for me in the entire collection.

Flower Nail Art

This is not the best nail art I’ve made, but there’s something in it that I like. It is definitely a little dark for spring, mostly because of the Chanel Black Pearl base. It is a tribute to the early-early spring, when there’s almost no grass, but some “early” flowers are already blooming.

Nerd Lacquer Warrior Ethos

Warrior Ethos lives up to its name. It’s a bright red jelly base with black and silver glitter. I love this color, it’s a modern and eccentric take on traditional vampy red.
