Deborah Lippmann Red Ruby Slippers and Spoiled Ants in My Pants Comparison

Hello Ladies,

Today I’m comparing DL Red Ruby Slippers and the cheaper alternative Spoiled Ants in My Pants. The polishes don’t look as similar in the bottles as they look on the nails.

I usually don’t use any base color for Red Ruby Slippers, but Ants in my pants jelly base is so sheer, that I used black base to compare both polishes.

As you can see from the pictures, the polishes are strikingly similar. Spoiled Ants in My Pants is definitely a very close dupe for DL Red Ruby Slippers. There’re couple of differences:

- Ants in My Pants has fewer small red glitter particles;
- Red Ruby Slipper’s formula is much better. Spoiled glitter is runny and the brush is gigantic!

If you don’t want to spend money to get DL, Spoiled is a good alternative. Be prepared to sacrifice quality and ease of application though.

Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe vs. Revlon Blue Mosaic

I don’t know why I was under impression that Blue Mosaic is a dupe for DL Across the Universe.

In fact, it is not even close. Not taking into account that Across the Universe has a blue jelly base and Blue Mosaic has a clear base. The finish and the glitter particles differ significantly in shape and in color.

Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe Swatches

Hi everyone!
Finally, it stopped raining in Boston. It’s really sunny and brightJ
Today’s post though is about Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe, that is not quite a summer nail polish to me, but definitely a gorgeous one.
I used OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees as a base. The same “darkness” can be created with the Across the Universe itself, but at least 3-4- coats of the polish should be applied.
Across the Universe – is a blue glitter nail polish with almost transparent black base.  As for me, quite a unique one.  It dries slowly if more than 2 coats are applied. That is why I prefer to apply it on the base.

Deborah Lippmann - Ruby Red Slippers

This is my first Deborah Lippmann nail polish and I’m definitely not disappointed. Amazing…fabulous and unique!!

Red Ruby Slippers-is a black base with red glitter of various sizes. The base is jelly, but 2 coats are enough. I think, if to apply it over any black polish, the result will be the same with only one coat.

With all the beauty of the polish it’s hard to apply it though. Glitter particles were all over my cuticles. And when it dries it’s very hard to remove as well. Maybe I’m doing something wrong….so sorry for messy pictures.

I tried to experiment a little and put Essie matte top coat over. It turned out to be even more stunning J
